Gates Blackmail Bombshell

A powerful House committee just heard Bill Gates admit Jeffrey Epstein tried to blackmail him with secrets about an affair, raising fresh questions about how deep elite protection really goes.

Story Snapshot

  • Bill Gates told Congress Jeffrey Epstein tried to use “sensitive” information about his extramarital affairs to pressure him.
  • Gates admitted meeting Epstein was a “grave error” but insists he never joined in any criminal activity.[2][3]
  • Lawmakers pressed Gates on why he kept contact with Epstein for years after Epstein’s 2008 guilty plea.[2]
  • Gates says he cut ties in 2014 and never visited Epstein’s island, ranch, or Florida home.[1][4]

Congress Grills Gates On Years Of Contact With Epstein

Members of the House Oversight Committee brought Bill Gates in behind closed doors to explain his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender at the center of a massive abuse network.[2][4] Lawmakers said Gates admitted he kept communicating with Epstein even after Epstein’s 2008 guilty plea, and that the relationship did not end until December 2014.[2] For many Americans, that long timeline with a known predator raises serious questions about judgment among the global elite.

Reporters obtained Gates’s prepared remarks, which he posted separately, giving his own version of events.[6][4] Gates said he first met Epstein in 2011, about three years after Epstein’s Florida conviction, and that the contact lasted roughly three years and focused on possible fundraising for global health projects.[1][4] Gates said the talks were supposed to connect him with wealthy donors, but he now calls the decision to ever meet Epstein a “grave error in judgment.”[2][6]

Blackmail Allegations And “Sensitive Information” About An Affair

In one of the most explosive parts of his testimony, Gates told lawmakers that Epstein tried to use “sensitive information” about Gates’s personal life to keep him in his orbit.[1][4] Gates said Epstein learned about his extramarital affairs and then tried to use that information to pressure him to re-engage after Gates decided to cut contact in 2014.[1][4] Gates told the committee this effort failed, but it shows how Epstein traded on secrets to control powerful people.[1][4]

CBS and other outlets report that Gates described these affairs as painful for his family and separate from his meetings with Epstein, but still admitted they gave Epstein leverage.[4] Gates also pushed back on at least one document in the Epstein files, saying a draft email that mentioned him was fake and did not reflect any real request or medical help Epstein claimed to provide.[3][5] For many conservatives, this entire picture looks like another example of a corrupt insider network where moral compromise becomes a tool of control.

Gates Denies Visiting Epstein Properties Or Seeing Crimes

Gates tried to draw a clear line between bad judgment and criminal conduct. In his statement, he again insisted he never visited Epstein’s private island, New Mexico ranch, or Florida home.[1][4][6] He said, “I never witnessed nor had any indication that Epstein was engaged in ongoing criminal conduct” and added, “I have never victimized anyone.”[1][4][6] A Democratic committee member later repeated that Gates has not been accused of any crime in this probe.[6]

Gates told Congress he met Epstein for dinners and conversations about philanthropy, but says he now realizes even that contact gave Epstein social cover he did not deserve.[3] He claims Epstein never gave money to his foundation and that their talks “reached a dead end” before he decided to walk away in 2014.[4][6] That timeline still leaves three years where one of the richest men on earth chose to sit with a known sex offender in search of more influence and funding.

Why This Matters For Accountability And Trust In Institutions

Committee members from both parties have said they want to understand why so many famous and powerful people stayed close to Epstein after his conviction.[2][5] Gates’s name appears throughout the Epstein files, including photos with women in Epstein’s circle and messages in which Epstein tried to reach him again.[5] A Gates spokesperson told Politico that these women were described as Epstein employees and were not part of Gates’s meetings, but the images still fueled public concern.[5]

For conservatives who care about equal justice, this hearing highlights a familiar pattern: one set of rules for regular Americans and another for billionaires and global insiders. Epstein’s network thrived on access to people with money, power, and political connections, and then on using secrets to keep that access.[1] By putting Gates under oath, the House Oversight Committee is at least forcing some sunlight onto that world, even if many questions about who knew what, and when, still do not have clear answers.[1][3]
