Unexpected Landslide, Trump v. DeSantis

Former President Donald Trump took the stage on the final day of the three-day Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where he was the most anticipated speaker. His speech did not disappoint the crowd, which had been eagerly waiting for him to address the audience.

Before President Trump spoke, CPAC guests were asked to take a straw poll to determine who they would support as the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election. The results of the poll were clear, with Trump winning by a landslide victory of 62%, followed by Ron DeSantis with 20% and Perry Johnson, a Michigan-based businessman, with 1%.

The absence of Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida and a potential Republican presidential candidate, raised eyebrows, as he decided to skip the CPAC event this year. Nonetheless, President Trump’s speech was the highlight of the event, and he delivered several great moments.

In his speech, President Trump spoke about the crisis facing the nation, warning the CPAC crowd about the threat of RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) and globalists. He asserted that this was the final battle, stating, “Either they win, or we win, and if they win, we no longer have a country.” Trump’s words resonated with the audience, as they erupted into cheers and applause.

President Trump also spoke about the Republican Party, stating that the days of electing or trusting RINOs were over. He made it clear that the party was never going back to the days of Paul Ryan, Karl Rove, and Jeb Bush. Trump’s stance on the party’s future direction received a positive response from the audience.

President Trump’s appeal lies in his ability to connect with the average man and woman, and his track record of doing what he promised while campaigning in 2016. He assured the guests at CPAC that when he moves back into the White House, he will have their backs.

During his speech, President Trump took a swipe at the press, stating, “We don’t have free press, we don’t have free anything.” He declared that he was the voice of the people in 2016 and now he is their warrior, their justice, and their retribution. Trump’s words were met with thunderous applause and cheers from the audience.
