Promises made, promises kept.
After making countless promises that he would bring American troops home from overseas wars, President Donald Trump’s administration is now taking steps to bring home more troops home from Iraq than at record levels.
According to the Daily Caller, President Trump’s administration has just called on U.S. troop deployment in Iraq to be cut to a record low of only 3,500. The decision comes as ISIS seems to have been defeated in the area.
Troops Coming Home
The Trump administration’s decision to bring troops home reportedly comes after a series of major successes in the Middle East by President Trump. Especially with the peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. In February, the United States even signed a peace deal with the Taliban in a major move for global peace.
Now, the amount of troops in Iraq will drop from 5,200 to only 3,500.
Needless to say, President Trump seems to be very proud of his accomplishment. He even blames Barack Obama for not doing it sooner, saying that ISIS could have been defeated earlier:
“When we came into office, ISIS was running rampant all over Iraq and Syria. And we knocked out the 100% of the ISIS caliphate. The Obama administration did a very poor job.”
