Officials Warn Of Devastating Coronavirus Outbreak In Washington

The risk for a Coronavirus outbreak might be a lot higher than you think. Especially if it hits a community of weaker people with underlying health issues who typically have weaker immune systems.

That’s why the Governor of Washington declared a state of emergency, according to The Hill. Because there is a justifiable concern for the outbreak of the virus among senior citizens of that state.

A Possible Nursing Home Outbreak

Officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) along with Washington state health officials notified the media on Saturday that an outbreak of the Coronavirus had been detected at a nursing home in the state called Life Care Center in Kirkland.

Two people have already reportedly been infected in the facility. Both female. One of them a worker in her 40s and the other a female patient in her 70s.

Needless to say, officials are doing their best to have all 108 of the patients of the facility tested and checked for systems associated with the new virus.

A state health official named Jeff Duchin told the media that he and his fellow health officials were “very concerned about an outbreak in this setting, where there are many older people.”

Governor Declares State of Emergency

Meanwhile, Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee issued a proclamation on Saturday declaring a state of emergency over the virus. The declaration was meant as a warning for state officials to help them prepare for the upcoming epidemic that may very well be possible.

The governor stated:

“This will allow us to get the resources we need. This is a time to take common-sense, proactive measures to ensure the health and safety of those who live in Washington state.”

In announcing the state of emergency, Gov. Inslee also took to Twitter to give and important warning to Americans about what to expect next.

We aren’t out of the woods yet. And it looks like things are going to get much worse before they get better.
