1 Dead, 20+ Injured
The report indicates that at least 20 people were shot at a large gathering of people after multiple gunman opened fire into the crowd.
A police officer, who was not identified, is in critical condition and fighting for her life. The rest of those who were injured at the party sustained non-life threatening wounds.
Police say that they don’t yet know the motive for the shooting, but they say that multiple weapons were “produced” after a dispute occurred at the event.
Police say there were at least three different shooters. And all of them opened fire at the same time:
“We have at least three shooters because we have at least three separate locations where … where gunshots were fired. And it’s my understanding that the shots went off simultaneously.”
D.C Mayor Muriel Bowser remarked that several people who “had no regard for human life” attacked the gathering.
The mayor released a statement saying:
“It’s very important that as a community we have zero tolerance for this activity, that we support the Metropolitan Police Department when they’re going to have to make very difficult decisions in breaking up these events.”
