Sen. Mitt Romney has just betrayed the Republican Party once again. This time, he just backed giving massive bailouts to states like California and New York over Coronavirus – in spite of the fact that they don’t need it.
According to a report by Salt Lake Tribune, Romney just joined Nancy Pelosi in calling for the federal government to give massive blank check bailouts to blue states that have been hit the hardest from Coronavirus due to gross mismanagement. He wants to give them money in spite of the fact that they have more money than most other states combined.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently made the same arguments in her calls for the government to provide unlimited funding for the mostly Democrat states hit by Coronavirus.
Romney Goes Against GOP Leaders Yet Again
According to the report, Sen. Mitt Romney carried a large poster into the Republican caucus meeting on Tuesday showing a bar graph of all the states being most affected by Coronavirus outbreaks. Nearly all of them were hardcore Democrat states like California and New York.
In that meeting, Romney revealed that he wanted to bail those states out.
But other Republican leaders disagree.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recently revealed that he would not back any “blue state bailout,” and Trump has signaled he may tie any support to states to a crack down on immigration. Because giving these states blank checks over Coronavirus is a complete waste of money. Especially considering that most states – especially California and New York – have the money to pay for their mismanagement themselves.
Lee, at the end of April, joined a letter with Sens. Rick Scott, of Florida, Ted Cruz of Texas, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Mike Enzi of Wyoming urging Trump to reject bailing out states for underfunded pensions or to make up for lost revenue.
But in spite of this, Romney is choosing to stab Republicans in the back. He would rather give blank checks to states that don’t need it than follow the actions of his Republican counterparts.
Is Mitt Romney A Democrat?
This is just one of the many times that Mitt Romney has actively chosen to rebel against Republican leaders to help push a Democrat agenda.
And honestly, it’s got people wondering if perhaps Romney might be slowly turning against the party he was once a presidential nominee.
Real Republicans don’t support Universal Basic Income. And yet, just days ago, Mitt Romney fully endorsed the idea.
Real Republicans don’t try to sabotage Republican candidates to make Hillary Clinton president. Yet, in 2016, that’s exactly what Mitt Romney did.
It’s time for Americans to see the writing on the wall. Mitt Romney is nothing but a career politician with no loyalty to the Republican Party. It’s time for him to hit the road. He doesn’t belong in the U.S. Senate.
