The hardcore liberal left now has another American hero they’re targeting. And that hero is the neighborhood’s very own Mr. Rogers.
According to an explosive new report from the Daily Mail, a former employee of Mr. Rogers now claims that he was threatened by his former employer for wanting to come out as gay. However, the claims are completely unsubstantiated.
The Allegations Against Rogers
Francois Clemmons, best known as Officer Clemmons on children’s TV series ‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood’, has said that TV star Fred Rogers told him to not come out as gay and tried to intimidate him.
“Franc, you have talents and gifts that set you apart and above the crowd,” Clemmons claims Rogers told him, according to People magazine.
“Someone has informed us that you were seen at the local gay bar downtown. Now, I want you to know, Franc, that if you’re gay, it doesn’t matter to me at all. Whatever you say and do is fine with me, but if you’re going to be on the show as an important member of the Neighborhood, you can’t be out as gay.”
Clemmons also claims that he broke down into tears and began sobbing after hearing Mr. Rogers tell him that.
“I could have the job only if I stayed in the closet,” said Clemmons.
Is Clemmons After Money?
What’s interesting about all of these explosive claims is that they lack any concrete proof whatsoever. And not only that, but it even looks like Clemmons is trying to profit off of his claims.
It’s being reported that Clemmons is releasing a new book about his story on May 5th. And the odd timing of his allegations has many people wondering if his allegations have any shred of truth in them.
After all, making bombastic sounding claims ahead of a book release is exactly what publishers are known to do in order to increase the sales of their book. This could be nothing more than a ruse to sell more books.
Mr. Rogers is an American icon. And the fact that after his death people can try to destroy his legacy for a profit is absolutely disgusting. It needs to stop.
