Co-host of the television opinion show “The View” Joy Behar has just shocked her fans by announcing that she will be leaving the show temporarily.
Joy Behar has left the popular daytime talk show to isolate herself amid fears of the rapidly spreading coronavirus. At the urging of her daughter, Behar is taking every precaution to protect against the virus.
It is likely we will see other celebrities in Behar’s age group taking similar precautions.
The Group Most At Risk
Joy Behar is 77 years old and thus is in the group of people most threatened by the Coronavirus. The elderly and others with underlying health conditions are the most at-risk group for contracting the virus and experiencing severe symptoms.
As we have already reported before, the Supreme Court is taking similar measures they have closed themselves to the public. After all, Ruth Ginsburg is in her eighties, which makes her most at risk to the virus.
Behar issued the statement announcing her departure saying:
“I’m in a higher risk group because of my age, but I’m perfectly healthy. I don’t look my age, but I’m actually up there. The number makes me dizzy.”
It is unknown how long Behar will be absent from the show. It is also possible the other members of the show will also opt to play it safe by isolating themselves as well.
With sporting leagues canceling or postponing their seasons worldwide, live TV shows are likely the next thing to face major disruption.
People are seriously terrified right now. Even Tom Hanks, the popular actor in Hollywood who starred in movies such as Forrest Gump and Saving Private Ryan has just been diagnosed with having the virus.
Shows like “The View” are filmed in front of a live audience that involves hundreds of people. Such events are a high risk for spreading the disease – which is why they are the ones stopping production.
