Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just humiliated herself on camera in front of the entire nation.
For weeks, Ocasio-Cortez has been calling for police departments to be “defunded” since the shooting of George Floyd. But when a television interviewer pointed out that studies show defunding police leads to even MORE crime, Ocasio-Cortez just fell apart.
In an interview on Good Morning America, George Stephanopoulos asked an extremely pointed question to Ocasio-Cortez asking why police should be defunded when they are scientifically proven to reduce crime:
“Why is it necessary to take money from the police?”
Stephanopoulos then got even more direct:
“The research does show that more police on the street means less crime.”
Needless to say, Ocasio-Cortez was blindsided by the question. She was visibly flustered by it. She even stumbled, changing the subject to how police have too many tanks:
“Well I think there’s…… one question that is interesting is that when it comes to funds, it’s not always about how many police officers are in the street. It’s about these politician precincts that have tanks…”

This Isn’t About George Floyd
I don’t know about you, but I don’t think tanks have anything to do with the death of George Floyd.
Refunding the police isn’t going to lead to less deaths. It isn’t going to help black people. It isn’t going to help white people. It’s not going to help anybody.
This is purely political. The only reason Ocasio-Cortez is trying to target police departments is because she wants to get rid of them. This isn’t about saving black people. She’s just doing this because she has an agenda, and she’s exploiting the death of George Floyd to get what she wants.
