It’s about time someone did it.
President Donald Trump has just revealed that he intends to CANCEL the upcoming G7 Summit because it’s too outdated. Right now, the summit only includes Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan, along with the U.S., and Trump feels that “it’s a very outdated group of countries.”
The White House initially announced in March that it would be hosting its G7 Summit on a video conference call for the first time due to the recent outbreak of Coronavirus. It was scheduled to happen online instead of at Camp David.
But President Trump intends to postpone the summit completely.
Out With The Old
On Twitter, President Trump announced his decision to postpone the Summit meeting because it didn’t involve enough modern nations. He even referred to the group as “outdated” as well:
“I’m postponing it because I don’t feel as a G7 it probably represents what’s going on in the world. It’s a very outdated group of countries.”
Fox News reports that President Trump intends to invite several bigger countries to the summit, including but not limited to: Russia, Australia and India.
White House communications adviser Alyssa Farah also said Saturday that the president wants to bring other traditional allies into the mix, as well as those impacted by coronavirus.
Time To Negotiate Where It Matters
President Donald Trump is absolutely right. For far too long, presidents of the past catered only to the liberal leaning countries that don’t have any real power. It’s not what we need right now.
It’s time to bring the superpower countries into the mix. The United States needs to build real relationships with these countries if we expect to remain a global superpower. Period.
