Democrat AG Keith Ellison allowed fraudsters to steal $250 million meant to feed hungry kids while filing lawsuits against legitimate organizations who disagreed with his politics.
Minnesota’s Attorney General Keith Ellison has filed lawsuits to dissolve 23 nonprofits connected to a massive $250 million fraud scheme involving federal child nutrition programs. The scandal, which has already seen 14 guilty pleas, centers around Feeding Our Future, an organization that allegedly orchestrated the theft of government funds intended for hungry children. While Ellison claims his office did everything possible in handling the investigation, critics point to significant delays, political connections, and questionable oversight that allowed this “gangster government” operation to flourish right under his nose.
A Quarter-Billion Dollar Feeding Frenzy on Taxpayer Money
What’s more enraging than watching government officials who are supposed to protect children instead protect criminals who steal from children? In Minnesota, a staggering $250 million fraud scheme has been uncovered, with funds meant to feed hungry kids during the pandemic instead funding luxury cars, property, and jewelry for fraudsters. Attorney General Keith Ellison has finally gotten around to filing lawsuits against 23 nonprofits linked to this massive scandal, including Urban Advantage Services, incorporated by none other than the wife of Minneapolis city councilman Jamal Osman. Funny how these corruption cases always seem to stay in the family, isn’t it?
The organization at the center of this debacle, Feeding Our Future, saw its funding skyrocket from $3.4 million in 2019 to a whopping $200 million in 2021. Any reasonable oversight would have immediately flagged this 5,800% increase as suspicious, but apparently in Minnesota, this kind of explosive growth is totally normal and not worth investigating promptly. The defendants allegedly set up fake meal distribution centers and submitted fraudulent documents to claim government reimbursements for meals that were never served to children who didn’t exist.
Political Connections and Convenient Oversight
It’s remarkable how Ellison, who’s built his career on aggressive prosecution of his political opponents, suddenly became cautious and methodical when dealing with this fraud case that involved people connected to his party. When asked about his handling of the investigation, Ellison defensively stated, “We contacted the Department of Agriculture, then we contacted the FBI, and we collaborated every step of the way. This investigation that the FBI successfully led took three continents, multiple languages and more than 100 agents.”
Notice how Ellison is quick to pass the buck to the FBI? The Department of Education raised concerns about Feeding Our Future’s explosive growth in April 2021, but the FBI didn’t conduct raids until January 2022. That’s nine months of continued fraud while Ellison’s office twiddled its thumbs. Meanwhile, during those same nine months, Ellison had no problem finding resources to pursue lawsuits against businesses that violated COVID restrictions or challenged his progressive agenda. Priorities, folks!
Shell Companies, Shell Games, and Political Shielding
Urban Advantage Services, incorporated by the wife of Minneapolis city councilman Jamal Osman, has been described by Ellison’s own office as a “fraudulent shell company created around the start of the pandemic to perpetuate fraud.” Isn’t it interesting that UAS allegedly has “strong ties to other organizations whose officers and directors were indicted,” yet neither Osman nor his wife faces criminal charges? Even more interesting – Osman is currently running for reelection. Nothing to see here, folks!
The lawsuit claims UAS acquired and used large sums of money “virtually overnight” without legitimate activities or assets. It never registered as a charitable organization or filed necessary documents with the state. And when investigators came knocking, UAS refused to cooperate. Under normal circumstances, this would trigger immediate action from a zealous Attorney General, but Ellison appeared to move at a glacial pace on this case compared to his lightning-quick responses to other matters that align with his political interests.
The Real Victims: Minnesota’s Children
Lost in all the political finger-pointing and bureaucratic excuses are the real victims: hungry children who were supposed to benefit from these funds. Governor Tim Walz’s statement that “My concern now is the criminals who committed this are brought to justice” rings hollow when you consider that his administration and Ellison’s office had multiple opportunities to stop this fraud much earlier. The $250 million stolen could have provided countless meals to children in need, especially during a pandemic when food insecurity skyrocketed.
The whole episode reeks of what can only be described as “GANGSTER GOVERNMENT” – a system where political connections shield bad actors from prompt investigation, where oversight exists only on paper, and where the stealing of a quarter-billion dollars meant for hungry children generates less urgency than prosecuting politically unpopular targets. If Ellison and Walz had shown the same zeal in investigating this fraud as they do in promoting their progressive agenda, perhaps millions of dollars would have actually reached the children who needed it most.
