What a time to be alive…
InfoWars founder and political commentator Alex Jones has just been arrested for supposedly drinking and driving in the state of Texas, according to an ABC affiliate.
Alex Jones has contributed to Fox News for many years now. And has been a guest on such shows as Geraldo At Large.
The Whole Story
Local authorities in Texas have confirmed that Jones was charged with drinking under the influence on Tuesday. He was even taken to the Travis County jail.
Jones’s bail was set at $3,000 and he was released on bond around 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
The 46-year-old was booked at the jail just after 12:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office said. His charge is a class B misdemeanor.
The Daily Beast also reported the incident. They also gave the following details:
“An article on the InfoWars website claimed that Jones was ‘caught up in a Travis Co. DWI dragnet.’ In the story, Jones said he had been ‘drinking a small amount of sake at a Japanese restaurant.'”
The article continues:
“Jones announced his arrest on a Tuesday episode of his show, claiming that he had blown under the legal limit of 0.08 Blood Alcohol Content. Texas law, however, allows for a driver to be charged with a DWI even if they’re under the limit, if they’re considered to be impaired.”
He’s Done This Before
Sadly, this isn’t the first time the radio show host has been linked to drinking and driving.
Back in December, the New York Times revealed that a former InfoWars staffer had once seen Jones drinking and driving back in 2016. Jones reportedly had been drinking something that had the “smell of vodka” out of a Dixie cup and that it smelled like “paint thinner.”
